An unwanted effect, the so-called “splashing”, occurs during welding process. If the splashing is not regularly removed from the torch, it may results in low quality welds with potential complete stopping of the welding robot. The torch cleaning unit is supplied with integrated injection device, which eliminates / decreases creation of splashing in the welding gun jet.

The torch cleaning unit consists from three main modules:

• cleaning unit,
• injection unit,
• cutting of welding wire, which is mounted in the base.

A calibration top for optical control of torch/welding wire calibration forms integral part of milling unit.

Optional cleaning units:

• torch milling, spraying with anti-adhesive liquid, cutting of welding wire,
• torch milling, spraying with anti-adhesive liquid,
• torch milling, cutting of welding wire ,
• torch milling.

The welding gun is firmly fixed in grippers, where the milling tool cleans the gun jet. After removing splashing of the jet, it is completely sprayed with anti-adhesive liquid and calibration unit then sends information on new geometry of gun jet to welding robot.

Advantages of the cleaning unit:

 

• complete cleaning of whole outer surface of the gun jet, as well as inner section of the ring near the gas guide,
• due to firm clamping of the gun in grippers there is no transfer of forces to the welding robot or torch mechanical part during cleaning,
• to prevent the jet clogging during the welding process it is necessary to apply the spraying anti-adhesion mixture to the gun, and the mixture gets up to the jet for gas injection and creates coating on whole welding gun.

Welding Wire Inspection Station

Calibration of welding tool is important during welding processes. This equipment ensures calibration by running of torch to single point without any other movements, and thus the calibration time is minimized. If the calibration unit detects incorrect length and/or deformation of welding wire, the wire is re-cut in the cleaning unit and the calibration is repeated. This ensures correct length and flatness of welding wire yet before start of the welding program. Inspection of the welding wire ensures that the weld will start in required point.

Single-blade and two-blade milling cutters for welding torch cleaning units

Either single-blade or two-blade milling cutters are used in thewelding torch cleaning units. The milling cutter size for the cleaning units is determined by the size of the welding torch.
